Can you make beats with Keyboards (piano) and if so does it have to be a certain type of keyboard and what program do you need to record the beat?

yes, to wire it up to a computer it has to be a midi keyboard & you need a midi adapter, any DAW will record from midi usually but your producer specific programs like FL, Ableton, Reason, etc. have more features geared toward recording shit from a keyboard

on more expensive keyboards you can actually sequence a whole beat just on the keyboard
