I haven't peeped very many UK artists at all. I'll take a look at the cats you listed, because like Ruckus said, I'm always interested in hearing new talent, so anything is worth a look in my book. The only thing I can really say about UK rappers is the Scribble Jam battler named Justice is pretty fuckin dope. His accent is deep and makes some of his lines a bit hard to understand, but his punches are nice as fuck.

Alright, I got a chance to check out Akala. He seems alright, but still having a hard time getting used to the accent. I think thats the major reason why UK artists will have a hard time selling in the US. It just sounds... I dunno, funny I guess. It doesn't have that raw swagger that I'm used to. I'm not saying UK artists suck, it'll just be a while before I'm accustomed to the accent and can start appreciating the music more.

Justice is From New Zealand @ Chainsaw.

And Wtf @ Akala Not Being Lyrical, Please Explain That One To Me.

The US Will Always Kick The Shit Out Of The UK Rap-wise Cause A. While Rap's Been Really Popular in The UK For Quite a Few Years Now, it's American Hiphop They Want (Mostly). Not Everyone Likes Grime/Garage/Electro Rap, Sure Those Genres Are Pretty Much Exclusive To The UK Urban Scene But That Doesn't Mean it's The Only Rap UK Citizens Listen To. And The Reason it Hasn't Caught On Quite So Well in The US is The Same Reason That There Was No indie Craze in The US, And That Trance/House Music Has Never Made as Much Of an impact There as it Has Here. Culture Changes From Country To Country.
And B. Like Someone Else Mentioned, The US Has a Much Larger Population Which Makes Finding Diamonds in The Dirt More Likely.

as For Who's Got The Better Rappers. US Rappers Make More Money And Gain More Worldwide Fame, And Because Of The Population Difference There's a Shit Ton More 'Lyrical' Rappers. But Meh, Beauty is in The Eye Of The Beholder.

thats basically how i feel, i love raw hip hop and the accent of european rappers just makes is so hard to take them seriously, i know that may sound ignorant and close minded but i dont mean it to be that way, its just very hard to get accustomed to, i still respect uk rappers but to be honest i think it will be a long time before americans begin to really appreciate them,

as far as which scene is better, my opinion is biased bc im not really into uk rap

scotch, akala is nice, he is lyrical, actually read my posts fuck sake coz i aint sayin it again, i like akala, the guy is very good, but he isnt the best he is far from it. at what point have i said hes not lyrical fool

so u all cant confuse my argument anymore ima clear this shit up
akala is good yes, but hes not my example of the uk scene, my examples for the US are:
devlin
giggs
kano
for starters peep this shit n get back to me coz im not arguing over akala anymore coz i dont rate him ova cats iv listed and when u hear devlins multis wordplay punches, giggs multis, kano pure flow-hype and lyrics and then there are the rest of the cats iv mentioned and more, then ull get why.

only the other guys are mentioning him id like to point out theyve mentioned no one other than him, y? coz uv blatently got no further than the fucking commercial shit on mtv base, trust me he isnt the best example of uk music so keep bickering with me on this point ur all wrong if u think akala is and that is the bottomline on that point

-- Mon Nov 09, 2009 1:14 pm --

just like to say quick, the arrogance in the last post isnt intentional jus no1 has given any feedback on the artists iv listed
i appreciate evry1 to ther own opinion and apoplogies to an offence taken

'He Lacks Real Depth' 'His Flow isn't Worth a Shout'.

How Does He Lack Real Depth ? And Considering His Flow is Better Than The Majority Of US Rappers' i Don't See Where ur Coming From.

And Since When Was This Thread Just About YOUR Examples Of The UK Scene ? im Not Saying a Thing About Anyone You've Mentioned (And Kano, Skinnyman, Professor Green And Jehst Happen To Be Some Of My Favourite UK Rappers). Sure i Encourage u To Give ur Examples And Opinions, But Other People Are Always Gonna Give Different Ones Too, So Shutup And Deal With it.

firstly its a discussion thread, so i want opinions but the only opinions were that of akala i want yall to see past that and give me some other ones which show the difference between UK and US is alot narrower

deal with it? i have mate i agreed with u all on akala except i feel his flow isnt as good as others, neither are his lyrics now bruv if u do truely listen to kano, jehst, prof green and skinnyman how can u argue with me, face it their lyrics and flow are better, they relese more material more frequently especially kano i.e mixtape mc no1 2008 shows his range of skills.

so wots ur point?

My Point is i Don't Agree With u ? ur Views Are Different From Mine ? Different Strokes For Different Folks Pal if u Don't Understand That Then Why Start a Discussion if u Just Want People To Agree With u ?

thats y i initially argued my point on akala, not to get people to agree with me.

on ur opinion each to ther own man thats fair enuff, but u cant dispute ur list of 4 mcees are better than akala.

Lol @ Bitches Wavin Chains And Gats... What Do UK Rappers Wave? Flags And Tha Queen Elizabeth Replicas?... As Far As i'm Concerned From What i've Heard... UK Rap is Garbage... i Only Like Akala.. And As KRS-One Once Said... "Rap is What You Do...Hip-Hop is A Lifestyle".. Of Course People Are Gonna Feel For UK Rap Different in America Because We're Not Used To Tha Same LIFESTYLE...For instance.. You've Got A Queen... We Gotta President.. Once Again Tha Population Factor Takes On A Big Role With Lifestyle... Also Tha Monetary Situation Of Tha Country Will Play A Roll On Tha Lifestyle Lmao.. But Ayyy.. That's My View.. Ya Dont Like it.. Check Tha Sig.

lol at americans always mentioning the queen. we have a prime minister who makes the "presidential" decisions. the queen`s only role now is to bring in tourism money from foreigners (mainly americans) who are actually interested in the royal family lol

anyway i agree most UK rap is wack. we do have dope lyricists but it all sounds kinda cheap and the production aint that great. i would say our lifestyles are generally pretty similar tho. we are both developed countries just everything is bigger in amercia. bigger population, bigger wages, bigger houses, bigger cars and bigger guns...etc

Plus americans havent been exposed to UK slang in the same way...etc so it would be hard to understand what the fuck we are saying. put it this way im not listening to no froggy french rap! (or serbian haha)

.uk artist wave wit some kind of savage rap style that us forgot...
uk mc are wild they rap fast(most of them) have MAD fast beats and they have murderous slang..i do enjoy listenin michel brothers, demon, terror danjah, roll deep,no lay, durrty goodz, hyper ,d double e,klashnekof etc, etc, etc
and i cant say that i enjoy listenin MM,50cent,faboulose and rest of US main stream...all what us mc have is quantity
