Word. I like this topic, should be fun to write on, and back in my middle school and high schools days basketball was pretty much my life so maybe I'll be able to reflect on some past experiences to make the verse have a kind of authentic feel to it.
Consider this my check in fellas...

My heart beat rapid, jumpin' like rabid rabbit,
ready to ravish the rim and rip it down savage.

My life's dream 'd been planted when I was like three,
and now ten points was all that separated it from me.

It was time to unsheathe my baller WMD weaponry,
and bomb these long threes down the gullet of the other team.

They left me open, not expecting this approach,
so I sunk the rock deep down their throats.

“You reap what u sow, so we'll defeat u, u know,
and we'll watch ya bleed slow then steal ur hoes.”

I know this grease-ball I guard is like a see-saw,
and if u get under his skin he's sure to err and fall.

So I keep-on talkin' at him, 'til his focus re-sponds,
now I be a thief cuz at that moment he's gone.

A quick steal followed by a dunk with real spice
brings the deficit to five and the energy is now alive.

As the time dwindles down to the final minutes
the crowd's sound pierces the air and I'm livin' within it.

Buckets back and forth keeps the score tight,
ninety to eighty-five with two minutes left to fight.

I dribble up the court, callin' for a low post pick'n'roll,
and with a quick flip hit the center with an alley-oop ball.

Tally up another deuce, now we rally up to the pressure on em too,
but they bust through so we must rush back to defend the hoop.

But they slow up to run down some time,
we catch up, reach in and foul to send him to the line.

He sinks the first, bricks the second,
so we run for the fast break, a hail-mary pass made.

A quick lay-up, now with 26 seconds left we trail by two.
They bring the ball up slow, tryin' to not give us any room.

But as the shot-clock buzzes they still hold the rock,
so with two seconds left we pass it in, send a prayer and....

I got ten points to go and twelve minutes to do it.
I’m ready to ‘press’ on and ‘start’ winning this ‘game’.
The opponents emotionless gimmick is lame.
But to combat that I’ll have to use similar movements.

There’s no time to hesitate. Now or never. Do or die.
I’m a loaded gun and I’m ready to shoot.
Pull the trigger. Crossover. Head to the hoop.
And... MISS. Shit! How will I ever do this right?

The opposition feels indomitable.
Moving so quick you can’t fucking see ‘em!
“When he gets it going like this you gotta double team him.”
My chances of winning are seeming impossible.

I can’t block. I can’t shoot. I’m getting dominated.
I’m in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This is the wrong game for the wrong guy.
‘Pushing my buttons’. It’s just getting me frustrated.

This trend continues for a couple more minutes.
Poorly performing as the point gap widens.
Tune out the voices to avoid bad guidance.
Buckle down but somehow still blunder the finish.

The lights fade away with the noise of the crowd gone.
I let out a small sigh slightly relaying my shame.
“That’s not bad for your first time playing this game.”
“I think I’ll stick a game I’m good at from now on.”

Put down the controller.
For NBA2k11 it’s game over.

The coach is speakin, nervously he knows he’s reachin
Known for preachin ’
Say’s we’re broken down but we won’t be beatin
Proceeds on feeding a few morsels of encouragement he knows we needin
His eyes capture mines and he hopes that I keep on believing

And I’ll carry on, if nothing else it helps, just for those reasons
He knows that we’ve blown threes from pre to post season
But low and behold it’s our low post that keeps breathin’
So no more cold shoulders to rookies, we gone need’em

The guards is gone lead’em while the 4-5’s is holdin’ it down
We’re in the game, and we can’t let go of it now
Cuz when it’s over it’ll be over, only one ownin the CROWN
No more H-O-R-S-Ein around, the crowds getting crazy n wild

They down for the home town and made it blatantly loud
The time is NOW or never, from this point, yep… its on-me
I’m a Pro so you know me, when it’s on, I flow free
So I’m finding my own threes from the top to the low key

If it goes… we own these… but UP there goes Kobe
He’s UP, and it goes slowly in, NO he’s no phoney
You KNO when he shows whatever he throws it goes in
But wow! They call foul and I’m back at the free throw again

“Boo’s” they come flowin in, No hope for these haters
Wave banners from the back stands fans for these Lakers
I’m the man, so aL-b got-damn if I stand for these fakers
Understand when I ran from the CAVS, fans labeled me “Trader”

Chris & “D” it’s on me and this free is the tie breaker
Was down by ten from a win and now I'm like Hi Haters!
Been getting’ HEAT all week from these geeks but I’ll take it
Just to see the face of these nay-sayers, bye bye Lakers….

Hook:
Time to shine in the 4th of course its all mine
No going down for a loss and boss I’m gone grind
Ignore boo’s from the fans and crews and rally troops
Last bucket of the game, what a shame it’s an ally-oop! Yep

Intrinsic- Your Verse Was Graphically The Best Out Of All 3. I Feel You Painted The Image Very Well,Conveyed Emotion Flawlessly, And Also Gave Off The Feeling That The Topic Was More Personal To You. If I Had Not Read That You Played Basketball Prior To Reading Your Drop, I DEFF Would've Came To The Conclusion That You Probably Played AFTER Reading Your Drop. I Feel Your Strength With This Topic Is Imagery. Your Delivery Was Poetic To Me. I Found Myself Following A "Bouncy" Rhyme Scheme. Easy To Flow And Easy To Read. A Few Weaknesses I Did See, However, Was Vocab. Don't Be Too Simple With Topicals. They're Meant To Touch The Core Of Imagination And Capture Your Readers. Simple Words Just Don't Do That As Well. Vocab Helps Develop Your Drop, And I Just Feel Like That Wasn't There For You Man. Granted, You Had A Couple, I Would've Liked To See More. You're Ending Was Slightly Predictable. None The Less, Entertaining. Good Read.

Kau- Your Verse Was The Most Enjoyable Of The Three. Your Strength Was DEFF Creativity. You Came With An Unpredictable Stance. I Really Enjoyed The Video Game Idea, And Didn't Expect It. I Think You Did A Nice Flip On The Concept And That Shows Creativity As A Topical Writer. Very Good. However, I Didn't Too Much Care For Your Delivery. The Whole Scheme Of:
Rhyme 1
Rhyme 2
Rhyme 2
Rhyme 1
Through Me Off. Made The Flow Of Reading Hard, Considering I Had To Keep Backtracking To Remember What Rhyme 1 Was Cuz Rhyme 2 Would Distract Me. This, IMO, Hurt You The Most. It's A Good Thing For Poetry, But, Not For A Topical. ESPECIALLY Not A Topical Title Match. Besides The Delivery, Good Read.

AlB- Your Verse Was probably The Most Well Rounded Of The 3. You Had Good Imagery, Good Use Of Multi's, And A Smooth Delivery. Your Introductory Bars Opened Nicely, And You Kept Me Intrigued Until The End. I Feel Your Weakness, Like IC's, Was Vocab. You Were Very Simple, And A Little Too "Slangy", For My Topical Tastes. Remember, Imagery Is Supported By Vocab Vividness. Its The Fine Details Of The Art. Without That, A Picture Can Seem As Bland As The Next.

All 3 Contenders Did A Fairly Decent Job Approaching The Topic. I Really Liked The Distinctiveness Of Each Writer's Attack. But Only One Can Be Chosen. Based Off Of Weaknesses And Strengths, I Feel As If AlB Came The Best On This Topic. Now, All 3 Of You Brought A Good Show Of Variety To The Table, And You All Expressed Great Talent. I Was Glad Ta Read Them All. If YOu Improve On The Mentioned Things, I'm Sure A Rematch Will Be Just As Formitable. Props To All Contenders.

Thanks for voting guys. I have to say that Kau came at it from a desperate yet very creative angle and it seems to have worked. For someone who has never picked up a basketball, that's absolutely amazing. Good job dude. This was fun, not as active as I would've liked it to be.. but it was a nice tournament and gave me something else to read other than battle raps.

I say that if there are no more votes by the end of the week, we close out what we've got and hand out the belt. But essentially that's up to Cory.

multies-aLb
rhyme scheme-alb
flow-alb

overall all three were good. i didnt care for the rhyme scheme of Kau's verse, honestly it just kept throwing me off. i couldnt find the flow. IC's verse stood out like a picture in my head as i read it. i def enjoyed that. but towards the last few bars i started to feel like the piece was dragging itself on. aLb's verse i feel has the strongest rhyme scheme, multies were damn near on point throughout, the flow was unstopable, and it painted one hell of an image in my head as well.

overall- aLb

i may be biast as a Kings fan i HATE the Lakers. nice touch aLb.
We must always and forever have hip-hops best interest at heart. We must allow ourselves to be critical of the music and culture so that ideas and beliefs that aren’t progressive can be eliminated and made unattractive to our youth. Our allegiance to Hip Hop has to be about more than romanticized ideas of misogyny, materialism, murder and mayhem. Instead our allegiances must be rooted in what we individually and collectively determine beneficial. The story of misogyny, materialism, murder and mayhem doesn’t end well. We’ve got proof. Doing what one believes is individually and collectively beneficial may allow for a better ending. Or better yet, no ending at all.

Okay, here's my opinion on everything...

I liked Kau's creativity, obviously. I mean, dude took something he doesn't really know shit about and made it into something worth reading. Nicely done.

Al B was mixing it up well, and I like how his flow was brought in the verse. Everything just fell in smoothly.

I. C. is the one that did both well, IMO. He seemed to be a little more rounder with the topic, and the flow was nice and consistent.

Over-all, I'm going to have to go with I.C. in this one, by a hair, with Kau following a close second and Riggz a close third. Riggz, the thing is, I think people could see where I.C. was going with his verse more, and it seemed his was more in a story type format, you feel me? I would like to see a re-match between you three though, on a different topic. This was definitely a sick battle.
