Interview with Alpha bill

Post by complexity »

00:25:14) illestlyrics.com: We're here with one of the most dedicated Illest users/emcees, I have seen to date. We will have an argument, a conversation and an enlightenment to the controversial figure that is Wildbill. How are you doing man?

(00:25:36) beta bill: I'm doing pretty good. Just hangin' around.

(00:26:38) illestlyrics.com: Sounds good. Ego...explain yours and justify it to people who might think you're way to full of yourself.

(00:28:09) beta bill: For people that think I'm full of myself, just mis-understand where I am coming from. I am not an egotistical person, at all. I am not fll of myself. I am confident. I have my own opinions, and I am not scared, nor will I ever refrain from not stating my opinion if I deem it neccesary. If anyone has a problem with it, they can kiss my ass. I've said it numerous times, it's my opinion, everyone has one, you don't have to agree with mine, nor will I force you too.

(00:28:53) illestlyrics.com: How has your perception of being a writer changed since you joined Illest?

(00:30:12) beta bill: Well, before Illest I just wrote poems. I was not a writer, nor did I intend to elevate my writing abilities. Now, since I have been on Illest, my perception has changed a lot. I actually strive to make each of drops better and better, where as before I would remain content with my writing and that was that. Now I appreciate writing a lot more also, to be a good writer, it's a lot, A LOT, harder than it looks.

(00:32:44) illestlyrics.com: Personally, I can look at writers like Rell and wonder how he connected two completely esoteric thoughts or B Bear being so consistent with substance. What impresses you the most about other peoples writing skills and you don't have to give examples. I didn't mean to single out anyone because a lot of writers are great on Illest.

(00:34:49) beta bill: What impresses me the most is how some of these people can string together these emaculate sentences and they all make sense. I've seen drops where people just spew bullshit and it looks good. Some other writers can use their large vocabulary and put out these drops that are just appealing to the mind. When you read a well though out drop, you think "Damn, I wanna get to that level". I guess what impresses me the most is the overall skill level of all the dominant users on Illest. There isn't one user who couldn't go toe-to-toe with people on others sites and rep Illest to the fullest.

(00:36:43) illestlyrics.com: Why did you decide to jump into audio at just the beginning of your "career".

(00:38:03) beta bill: I am the kind of person to get bored easily going through the same routine everyday. Me testing the waters with audio was nothing more than just wanting to try something new and see where it could go. I've gotten better at it. I haven't released anything new, but it's not something I take very seriously so I don't really put forth total effort into becoming a top audio artist on Illest.

(00:39:11) illestlyrics.com: Did the feedback discourage you?

(00:40:40) beta bill: Nah. If I get negative feedback I take it as a learning experience in all honesty. Me getting negative feedback means that everyone can see I didn't put forth total effort. It was blatantly obvious, the audios were shit, lol. Horrible quality, lyrics were ass. If I posted some of my new stuff, stuff I think I got better on and still got negative feed I would take it more seriously.

(00:43:40) illestlyrics.com: You're an Illest historian to a degree and on the record have said you study for battles more than most of us. What do you respect most about the past of Illest? I also want to know if you find the past of your opponent to be their biggest weakness and your greatest strength.

beta bill: What I respect about the past of Illest is you see these guys writing now, Complexity, Ghost, Viral, all these guys, and you look at when they first started out, these writtens that were dropped weren't bad, but compared to what these people drop today, they were garbage. Seeing so much elevation through the ranks when you go back and the very first drops of some of these people is inspiring. Yes, the past is anyones biggest weakness. If there wasn't the past we wouldn't know that Street Pharmacist was caught biting, we wouldn't know that Rell was "ran off" the site, we wouldn't know that people like Typeo were lyrically garbage after they tried to act tough to the new guys. So yes, the past is definetley a factor on a rap forum, and is by far someones biggest weakness.

(00:51:10) illestlyrics.com: When you first joined the site in December (almost a year ago) you were the caps-lock-freak and that has been documented on your profile in the magazine. You quickly changed your direction and took Illest more seriously. When was your pivot point? What made you positive that you were going to dedicate yourself to Illest and furthering yourself as a writer, etc?

(00:55:53) beta bill: The pivot point for me, was basically, respect for this forums users. I came to the site just looking for some lyrics for a Wu-Tang song, saw that it was a rap forum and thought "anyone can fucking rap", and in that process I talked a lot of shit because I thought I was couldnt because I was rhyming one syllable a bar. Then it came to my attention, this is trash, I would look at Ghost's drops and be like "Damn, mine are nothing like that". Thats where the respect came in, I thought it was the land of milk and honey, and it's not, it's a hard thing to pick up and get good at. So I started TRYING to get better, and learning all aspects, and I was still getting negative feed, so I said fuck it and just went balls to the wall and started using my vocab, started studying past drops, how this person flowed, how this person connected multis, how I write today is basically a culimination of every writer on Illest because I studied A LOT of drops to learn the basics, Complexity also helped become a better rap writer with a speech he gave me that really gave me the extra push and to break the boundary which I was at.

(01:01:40) illestlyrics.com: I know we are jumping around -- but there is so many subjects to touch on. You have a disdain for new users -- we will address that momentarily -- what I am interested in knowing is how we can get them involved in the process quicker and make them more effective users?
(01:04:12) beta bill: Firstly, when I was a new user, I thought my shit didn't stink. It seems to be a trend. New users come sporting these 300-0 records and then they get beat numerous times and leave the site. Stop lying. We don't give a shit about your past. All we care about is how you improve the site, and hopefully improve your writing skills. These new users need to come in with a mindset of "I'm going to elevate" NOT "I'm the best thing since bread". Most can't take constructive criticism. If you think you're the best, good for you, but you're not. There will always be someone better, enjoy the site, enjoy your stay, but don't be a fucking douchebag.

(01:07:28) illestlyrics.com: I guess, we can throw the proverbial constructive criticism out the window. The whole entire site NEEDS to bond in a greater way as well. What happened to the collaboration on Illest? It has basically disappeared.

(01:09:42) beta bill: The site has become a diss factory. No one appreciates eachothers work anymore. Which leads to lack of feed, lack of voting, and lack of overall activity. People think beef bring activity, no, beef brings hate and general distaste for the people who start shit. It's annoying. Collabs come and go, I think once people pull their head out of their and start appreciating writing as a whole instead of their own drops again then the site will improve.

(01:19:38) illestlyrics.com: Great recommendations. Maybe after this interview -- we can get a site text collab going on. We need to unite around a cause. Can you tell me about your favorite collaborations that you have been apart of?

(01:20:45) beta bill: Lord. I've been part of quite a few. I can't really pick out one. My favorite might be where I teamed with Complexity because it showed my elevation. Another favorite was the Horror-core one I did with Arvincible, I really liked that drop.

(01:23:35) illestlyrics.com: Beef...you have beefed with a lot of people...tell us about it

(01:25:16) beta bill: People talk shit. People get shit on. Most of the beefs that I've been involved was just me knowing I am better than the person, I have beat them in battles, I've trashed them in disses, and they keep coming back for more. It's not me being cocky. I was better than them. Typeo, Phantom, Orlando, ran them all off the site because it eventually just got annoying seeing them dodge everything and keep talking shit. Other beefs were just petty little bitch fests, basically.

(01:27:00) illestlyrics.com: Right. I'm ready for a break, I don't know about you. Lets play the name game!

(01:27:20) beta bill: Lets get it

(01:31:04) illestlyrics.com: VIP

(01:31:22) beta bill: Someone who has potential to be a good user if he could get over net beef.

(01:32:31) illestlyrics.com: Ekoms

(01:32:51) beta bill: Someone I thought was a cocky son of a bitch, but turned out to be a pretty cool guy who's easy to talk to.

(01:35:10) illestlyrics.com: Hazard

(01:35:55) beta bill: Really cool, really misunderstood kid. One of the people I talk to regularly outside of the site. Has great potential. Another one who cannot let net beef hinder his performance. Overall, hes a cool kid.

(01:37:26) illestlyrics.com: Harle

(01:38:26) beta bill: Haha. Another person I talk to regularly, really cool person. Not scared to admit I developed a little net crush on the girl, lol. I consder her one of my friends, we talk that much.

(01:39:51) illestlyrics.com: Oh yah, that reminds me that Harle needs to check her logs with the interviewer and recognize a date.

(01:39:53) illestlyrics.com: 8th

(01:40:34) beta bill: Cant really say much about the guy, honestly. Seems like a laid back kinda guy. Sometimes I don't get his humor, and I used to think he was a dick, but like I said, never really talked to him.

(01:41:11) illestlyrics.com: Arvincible

(01:42:47) beta bill: Another person I consider a friend off the site. Nice guy. Fuckin' sucks at Halo, haha. But nah, he's improved so much as a writer it should be inspiring to newer users because he's only been here since December also and he's one of the top battlers on the site.

(01:44:13) illestlyrics.com: Thatguyouhate

(01:45:13) beta bill: Real cool guy. Wish I coulda talked to him more but I don't use MSN. He's a funny guy and he's a good part of the site. Runs the sports center nicely and always contributes positively to conversations, especially when it comes to Sports.

(01:45:38) illestlyrics.com: Prophet

(01:45:57) beta bill: Cant say too much about the guy. Never really talked to him. He seems to be elevating though.

(01:49:14) illestlyrics.com: Kurse

(01:49:49) beta bill: Dedicated. Funny ass dude to talk to. Him and Viral on Xbox are fuckin hilarious. Gotta respect what he's done for himself in the rap game.

(01:49:55) illestlyrics.com: Viral

(01:50:47) beta bill: Same as above. I talk to him more than Kurse, we actually haven't been talking lately because I'm always working, but when we do it's fuckin' hilarious.

(01:53:49) illestlyrics.com: I'm getting bored of the name game. I want to know about the embarrassing picture?

(01:54:08) beta bill: Jesus christ. People don't forget do they?

(01:55:04) beta bill: I shaved my head into a mowhawk and I had a button u shirt on with fuckin' sunglasses and I looked like a fruit booty, like a whack Enrique Eglesias, and Harle showed Rell just to show him and he took it upon himself to use it in our battle. It was a great personal though.

(01:55:41) illestlyrics.com: Oh. Haha, at least we're revealing some new details in this interview. What is your most embarrassing moment on Illest?

(01:56:06) beta bill: That picture that thank god no one has seen besides Rell and I and probably JayGunna.

(01:57:20) illestlyrics.com: Hmm, we might need to get that picture into the publics hands for the three year anniversary coming up soon. Speak on the beef with Subsist, why can't you two work together?

(01:58:47) beta bill: He's a self centered son of a bitch. He can't take criticism, and he's the kinda guy to drag his cock on the floor when he should be hiding away in a corner. It started when I whopped the piss outta him in the Tag Tourney and he couldn't accept defeat. Then I wrote a half diss about him, and he never responded. Doubt he ever will. It's a piss-on beef. I'll agree to disagree. But he really needs to stop swinging his dick around like he's something special.

(02:00:36) illestlyrics.com: Who are your toughest opponents and what win made you most proud?

(02:01:54) beta bill: My toughest oppenent was probably Arvincible. I just couldnt seem to get that extra vote to get me the win, even when he admitted I had the better verse. What win made me most proud? Hasn't happened yet. I was most proud when I went on that 9-2 streak through March or whenever.

(02:08:55) illestlyrics.com: What kind of rapper would you consider yourself? If you were to describe it in one sentence?

(02:09:43) beta bill: A rapper who's talent comes out best when telling a story or conveying a message.

(02:11:30) illestlyrics.com: What is your favorite drop you have done and you can link to it for historical purposes.

(02:12:34) beta bill: Split Personality. I nominated it for the Old School Classics.http://www.illestlyrics.com/board/split ... t9171.html

(02:23:46) illestlyrics.com: What are your future plans on Illest?

(02:24:23) beta bill: Ehhh, hopefully elevate more, but I'm so busy with work and everything Im hardly on anymore.

(02:27:12) illestlyrics.com: Do you feel you're underrated?

(02:27:50) beta bill: Yes. I have a lot of potential, and don't full utilize all aspects. I'm already decent, but I can be a great textcee if I can find more time to write.

(02:28:34) illestlyrics.com: What does your battle record say about you?

(02:29:59) beta bill: It says when I put forth my best effort, you won't beat me. I will lyrically trash you because of the research I've done in a lot of battles. I've almost beaten the best, and if I keep getting better, I WILL be able to beat the best. Also, take note I started of 1-8.

(02:31:00) illestlyrics.com: Why should other people respect you more to that question of being underrated?

(02:32:52) illestlyrics.com: Why should people respect you more

(02:33:08) illestlyrics.com: (to THAT question BEFORE of being underrated)

(02:34:20) beta bill: Ive never been about people respecting me. I'd actually rather be an inspiration to others than to be respected. Look at my first drop, and look at the drop I talked about eariler. I've come a long way in my writing abilities. If it comes to respect, respect how much I've elevated.

(02:37:03) illestlyrics.com: I want to cut this off at this point and will definitely continue this conversation at a later date. Any shoutouts or anything?

(02:37:59) beta bill: Too many people to shoutout too, I talk to alot of people on Illest. Shout-out to LadySam though being you didn't menton her in the name-game. The people I talk to know who they are.

Rell - That's why I put it in quotation marks, because if you read past messages, that's what everyone made it look like. But if they got the chance to talk to you, it'd be a different story.

you shouldn't waste your time with bullshit like this and interview somebody that people actually care about, like one of the google bots
Respect this, specialist, black, testing this and get ya necklace jacked
Your after name scratched up off my guestlist, party freak
You the type of nigga that'll hardly speak unless you spoken to
You throw a cold screw but sober up when I'm approaching you
At the same time we postin two niggaz on that ass
Thats gonna do what they supposed to do the limelight
Snatched away from you because its my night
Killarm' blaze hotter than twilight, you better get ya lines right
Half of these crabs cant even rhyme right
