Who Killed Hip Hop?

Post by QwarterZ »

It's the basic topic, a lot of people still use the term
a lot of us hate commercialized Hip Hop, some more then most
others see no problem with it (I being one of them)
but what's your opinions on it, I know y'all might have a idea

discuss...

Nobody did. Hip-hop is still very well alive and thriving... in the underground. There have been stupid trends throughout music history and hip-hop has quite a few. Only the underground stays true to the roots.

yea but if your like the mainstream audience who don't know
then it's obvious that they don't know where Hip Hop is, where that mindstates at
you gotta clarify your ideals or they won't understand it, consider this a mouse trap
for tourists in Hip Hop if they ever google the topic or whatever

Are u guys Speaking Of music Or Of Hip Hop.... Being A Culture It Will Not Die until Those That Support And live Its lifeStyle Stop Making Their Voice Heard. I Think Hip Hop...Like Rock Will Never Die But Keep Evolutionizing. its A Matter Of Money When It Comes To Music... But For Bombers(Graffity) Breakers And Poets its Still Very Much Alive...As Well As underground Which IS Where Hip Hop Came From And Will Stay At. This Shit The Stations Play is POP to Me... But I Feel That As Long As u Can Express Your Self Hip Hop Will For Ever Exist....

I'm talking about Hip Hop as the heart of things
brah brah
everyone says there's aspects of Hip Hop that aren't alive anymore
well that just contradicts what I'm tryna prove here
but either way they feel that the music on the station is what killed Hip Hop
but if everything they play on the station has Hip Hop mixed in say a "Common"
or "Talib Kweli" or "Jay Z" and so on, would that be considered pop?

see people don't understand every aspect of Hip Hop and continue to say it's dead
at which point I try to argue it but they don't have a straight answer
they always got the same excuse when it comes to such things
which to me is quite annoying I mean for real for real
nah'mean son, keep it fresh, their swag all on the DL like megaupload
they be stylin' on us yo, for real g, keep it a hunnid

kats like jay z are killing the culture as a whole and thus need to be exterminated. they are demonizing their own culture by doing what they are now. but real kats know where to go to find that real rugged shit and that will always be the same.

Yea but HOW is Jay Z killing it? I mean he came up signed to himself
no one believed Jay Z could make it to where he's at, he knows how to MC
everyone can relate to his music, and he puts money into charities
he brought water to Africa...what do you expect from dude?

I see it now as a balance. Then also I see it as a exploitation of peoples talent put on wax. But the origins of hiphop started on different coasts, East had all types of great lyricists while the west had sick lyricists on some gangsta shit. So to someone whos from the east needs to derive the meaning of hiphop on a cultural level and understand the origins of where that came from. East had the partys, creativity, and everyone had mad steeze, while the west had its drama, martial law, and personalities on a gangsta level. All that was hiphop, from Ice T and Mc Eiht to Eric B and Big daddy kane.

I personally feel its the A&Rs, exec's, major record labels that are the blame for popular cultural differences from a musical standpoint. They market so many trends and slap a hiphop logo on it that it misleads majority of people who arent educated on what hiphop is. Its the advantage to tell you before you know what it is. "Well the people from the 80's and 90's are just gonna be a thing of the past" it has always been used as a way to transform hiphop in ways where it can be marketed more as a commodity then art and a substantial tool for finding truth. Hiphop shouldnt be fucked with, one who makes rap music shouldnt associate themselves with real hiphop. Theres a reason why someone leaves hiphop to do somethin else where music i selling, cause real hiphop no one wants a part of if your chasin doe.

The music now is just to self glorifying, too pop that its not even hiphop, hiphop did carry all sorts of elements back in the day like jazz, rock, pop, and electro. But todays genre has lost major touch to what it should be like, Hiphop was universal.
Soldier boy exemplifies what hiphop is, just a one liner and the same dance move over and over. I enjoy the balance, i just feel the balance isnt there anymore. Reality rap is on threads, gangsta music is almost dead, and pop is at a all time high, just listen to raekwon and justin beiber, that explains everything.

your saying i got sources from wikipedia, it seems your preaching to the choir son, look ive been having this perception on hiphop way before wikipedia exited?? And to my knowledge its pretty accurate because ive been bumpin this music before that existed, get it right homie, i was only stating an opinion, not trying to condescend anyone? so what the fuck are you talkin about?
