Re: TOURNAMENT RND 2 - Murk Vs. I.C.
Checkin in. Like the topic. Good luck Murk, lookin forward to this...
Alright, here's my 16 bars:
I was sittin', workin' on some writtens
that would murk the competition.
I'd been scriptin' words of a plane's plummet to the earth
when I felt the lurch of the first engine burst.
At first, I thought my verse had fooled my mind,
but as my eyes search the cabin I realize this is real-life.
I feel-like I'm trapped in a coffin floatin' in the teal-sky,
but I'm hopin that'll I'll be-alive, so my life can realign
Just then I notice that I wrote this: “in the sea we dive”,
so I look outside to see the sea as it approaches.
In hopelessness I open up my notebook to distract my focus,
and I pen an opus of the dopest lyrics I have ever wrote.
This helps me cope with the death that follows close,
cuz I know my soul ain't fadin' slow, it forever flows.
I've never known of heaven's glow, but I feel it deep,
in my essence it unfolds, and it wills me into peace.
My restlessness is ceased, and I'm ready for my last breath,
I've released the heaviness of life, now I'm heading for the next step.
Any regrets I may have let hold me back I have now set free,
and I now can see what really matters in this life I've lived and breathed.
I'm prepared for what may be and wherever the road may lead,
yet when thoughts of family pop into my mind, I don't wanna leave.
So I jot a line I don't believe: “'The plane can fly!', says the pilot,”
but my eyelids open wide when the plane evens out. I'm struck silent.
The true pilot says, “Aight listen, there'd been ducks stuck in the engine,
but we got em free, so we ain't yet collectin' heaven's pension.”
Had my pen been the weapon that had led us to an imminent death?
Had it been my pen who had rescued us, so we could live again?
As I told the story to the psychologist, these thoughts occupied my mind,
but this mental therapist looked at me with solemn eyes.
“You've been here the whole time,” she says with a hint of violence,
“in this insane asylum.” Then she injects the acid in my veins again. Now I'm flyin' high....

I didnt make the deadline. Just too much going on at work. Sorry man, I hope you dont feel like you wasted your verse. You did a solid job on it, btw. Good luck in the championship round.

Murk's verse was kinda short, although the poetry behind his first line was nice, when he uses 'deadline' is this foreshadowing of a death that'll happen later in the verse? Hard to say. But after that the verse kinda fell off.
