Lil Jon’s “Crunk Rock” set to be released June 8th

It’s been 5 years since Lil Jon gave fans an album. 2004’s Crunk Juice came out on the Top 200 at #3, and prompted the singles “What U Gon’ Do” and “Real Nigga Roll Call.” The onetime So So Def DJ also enlisted production assistance from Rick Rubin, as well as a guest-list that included Nas, Ice Cube and Suga Free to what remains one of the few platinum independent Rap albums of the decade.

In the six years since, some could argue that Jon has quietly left. As his former label collapsed, the self-proclaimed King Of Crunk became label-mates with Chamillionaire and Drake at Universal Republic, and produced hits for E-40, Amerie, Pitbull and Baby Bash.

This afternoon, it was announced that after the lengthy hiatus, Jon’s long-discussed, but never-released Crunk Rock will be brought to fans June 8th. Morever, Jon & The East Side Boyz’ 7th career album features Game, Pitbull, R. Kelly, Elephant Man, LMFAO, Soulja Boy and others.

“I’m finally ready to get Crunk Rock out there to my people,” said Lil Jon. “It’s been a long time comin’ and the album has somethin’ for everyone on it.” Jon continued, “I gave them every kind of Lil Jon that they have ever heard on an album. From the Crunk shit, to R&B, to House, Electro and Rock… The album is on a whole other level… I can’t wait for da’ people to hear it!”

Evidence speaks on Rhymesayers Entertainment debut Cats & Dogs

During Friday night’s P.O.S. concert in Los Angeles’ The Troubador, Evidence stood out in appreciation, without taking the stage, as Dessa, Grieves & Budo, and P.O.S. performed. It isn’t a rare sighting with two of the three acts on the bill presently representing Rhymesayers Entertainment. After all, Ev is getting ready for the release of his own RSE release, which has been one of the most talked about albums this year.

Evidence stopped for a second to let HipHopDX know about the album, Cats & Dogs, a project he first spoke to HipHopDX about last year. The disc, which has had fans anxiously awaiting, will get a considerate amount of “lead time,” as he said. This is something Rhymesayers Entertainment has requested in order to build up to the project’s release.

“Rhymesayers likes a bigger lead time than most labels, which I think is a great thing. It’s about having an album I can tour for years [versus] meeting a second, third or forth quarter for rushed reasons. I am putting the finishing touches on it all this month and the top of next. I’m not over thinking this one…just making honest music as I have my last two solo releases. I have upped my skills over the last years due to being inspired by a lot of my peers. I feel you will hear my growth with Cats & Dogs. Expect early to late Summer release,” stated Evidence.

Recently, fans got a sample of what’s ahead when DJ Premier dropped “To Be Continued” on his radio show. Fans can expect more new music from Mr. Slow Flow soon, as he noted via Twitter.

“Leaking ‘Outtamymind’ soon. Ev feat @MURS and …. ? I’m Indy! Can do whatever I want,” Evidence adds, leaving a question on his fans heads of who the third artist might be.

Cats & Dogs is Evidence’s follow up to 2007’s The Weatherman LP and 2008’s The Layover EP.

Lil Wayne- Rebirth – Album

Well, this is an interesting circumstance, I don’t know quite what to make of it. It seems as though Lil Wayne’s latest effort, the controversial “rock album”, or better known as Rebirth, has leaked to the internet. According to wikipedia, take this with a grain of salt, the album was shipped out with 500 pre-ordered copies early because of a shipping mistake. Even if this isn’t the final release, you will most likely see Rebirth pushed up to try to narrow the gap because the release date currently is February 10th, 2010.

Update: The album has been pushed forward to February 2nd. The album has received mostly negative reactions to the extent that everyone is already talking about Carter IV.

Album Meaning

The seals are from the Bible—Revelations and the coming of the Apocalypse. But Islam, Judaism, Christianity—all have a version of the same events. The Lion of Judah breaks the seven seals one by one, each imparting knowledge and inflicting catastrophe, ending with seven trumpets announcing the end of Times. After the Apocalypse, God rises from the ashes to recreate the Kingdom, taking only the greatest elements from the past with them. When you look at Hip-Hop, I want to do that: to spit fire and take our best from the ashes to build our kingdom; to recognize all the regional styles, conscious lyrics, the tracks, underground, mainstream, the way we treat each other. Lose the garbage and rebuild our scene. I’ve always tried to insert consciousness and spirituality in my records, interpreting the writings of all cultures and religions and how they apply to life in modern times.
