DJ Q-Bert has teamed with Sway and King Tech’s art imprint When Art Imitates Life (W.A.I.L.)

It’s his goal to create a new fine art piece that pays homage to Jimi Hendrix’s classic 1967 album Axis: Bold As Love.

Q-Bert dropped 50 hidden elements throughout the “Diskstroyer” piece that reflect the DJ’s life, interests and career.

We’re both so free, and we express animal instincts when playing our musical instruments,” Q-Bert said.

Two editions of the 250 piece exist for the limited run the 60″ x 25″ canvases, which will be numbered and signed by DJ Q-Bert himself, along with copies of his handprints.

Diskstroyer is a spiritual representation of how order can be created out of chaos,” says Q. “It all falls within the title of the piece.  Sometimes you have to destroy something to create something beautiful.

WAIL was founded in 2010 by King Tech of the World Famous Wake Up Show and MTV’s Sway Calloway in conjunction with notorious L.A. creativity house SceneFour.
