Description

Marvin Young aka Young MC is best known for his 1989 mega hit, "Bust A Move", which won the first-ever Grammy Award for "Best Rap Recording". Born in South Wimbledon, London, Young MC was raised in Queens, New York. After graduating from High School in New York City, he moved to the opposite coast to attend the University of Southern California, where he met Michael Ross and Matt Dike, co-founders of the Delicious Vinyl. He graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in economics, which he received before his album "Stone Cold Rhymin" completed production. The song "Bust A Move" is a good-natured examination of romantic successes and failures spiced by his sense of humor and quick-tongued rapping, and features a bass-line provided by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea and lead vocals sung by Stevie Wonder’s studio background vocalist Crystal Blake, not Diana Ross as many have speculated. Traffic Entertainment and Delicious Vinyl team up once again to reissue this classic 12" complete with original jacket and track listing.
