With yet another classic album (How I Got Over) in their discography, Philly Hip Hop group The Roots are now more focused on making music that can be appreciated on a universal level.

?uestlove explained to the Wall Street Journal following a performance in New York City last week.

“We’re people too, we’re hip hop fans as well…As long as we stick to subjects that are relevant and universal we shouldn’t have any problems.”

How I Got Over was released on June 22, 2010 and received rave reviews from everyone from USA Today to the New York Daily News.

In other Roots’ news, ?uestlove will be performing at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center on April 17th as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts.

Titled the Philly-Paris Lockdown, the event will celebrate the music of Paris; ?uestlove will also be joined by international singer-songwriter Keren Ann. Tickets start at $35.

Following Philly-Paris Lockdown there will be a free post-show featuring spins from ?uestlove, Rich Medina, and DJ AfroDJiak.
