Lil Wayne
From Rap Wiki
Lil Wayne is one of the most popular artists from the south. His most recent effort "Tha Carter III" sold an unbelievable one million copies in its first week. Making him the first artist to go platinum in a week since 50 Cent accomplished the feat with his second album "The Massacre". As a teenager, Lil Wayne meet "Cash Money Records" executives and ended up recording for the label. He then joined the group "Hot Boys" who were signed to "Cash Money Records". The short lived group reached a decent amount of success, but quickly faded away. His solo career began with "Tha Block is Hot", which he dropped in 1999. He then dropped "Lights Out" and "500 Degreez" with little to no success and hit it big with "Tha Carter" in 2004. He quickly responded with "Tha Carter II" in 2005 and dropped "Tha Carter III" in 2008.
