look at scientology and how popular it has gotten in a short amount of time. what the religion believes in is completely ridiculous right? but even in this day and age with the intelligence and technology in the world it still has a huge following cause it explains life so people don't have to think about it, but it is shunned by religious people cause it ain't the ideology thats popular. well imagine 2000 years ago with an even more primative society, back then it was just as ridiculous as scientology is today. but the people were simpler and quickly started to believe the storys they were being told and the population was alot smaller so the message was easier to spread and people loved the idea because it explained life so they wouldn't have to think about it. so pretty soon kings and rulers started accepting it and realized they could use it to their advantage to gain popularity and support

now think about the present. religion is still used by politicians and leaders for the same purpose

but how are you going to think i'm an idiot for not believing in religion when i gave you all the reasons.

Yes religion has been corrupted, and yes religion has been used by some to achieve there personal goals. thats not the religion that is corrupt, that is the people. do you know how corrupt and manipulated the bible has been? i can understand believing in god, but i can't understand someone believing in organized religion with all its contradictions, flaws, and manipulations

I am catholic, but I dont really go to church. I PERSONALLY believe you can be a good catholic by having a close relationship with God and praying in your own home. So your attacking of organized religion does not really affect me. You can study all you want about what you consider Christianity. You dont understand my relationship with God, or many others. So proving that their are bad people hiding behind the cloak of religion isn't proving much.

Religion as in organized religion has been corrupt by some people in different times. But as I said, it's not the religion that is corrupt, it is the people. You know what i meant, dont be a dick in order to try to make me seems stupid.

heres another analogy, blind followers of religion are like blind followers of a dictatorship, its the popular consensus that those in power are right and just, when in most cases its hardly the truth.

i believe following something you know nothing about and don't question its motives and sincerity is foolish and ignorant, hence why democracys are better cause they can FREELY question their leaders without being outcasted or worse

this is a pointless argument. I do appreciate the fact you seem to know what your talking about. You probably do know more about organized religion then me. And i know the things your saying are true. It does not change what i believe in one iota. People will always corrupt everything, its the nature of human beings. People will use whatever they can to forward their personal goals. To me, that doesn't say anything about the religion, that says something about people. We clearly disagree, thats fine.
