Today REAL hip hop as we know it barely exists with the glorification of sex drugs alcohol and beautiful women it almost leaves nothing to the politically,historically, and romantically ignorant mind. Me being one of these ignorant minds i decided to look for some up and coming talents that talk about things other than sex, the drugs they sell[or are selling] and the money they waste on things that have absolutely no value to the community that they rap about is where they came from and where they struggled at.
I stumbled across a friend of mine MEECHIE G a chicago native living in athens, georgia with a sound of his own and mind that seems to wander from one end of the world and to the other and back again. what catches my attention in his music is HOW VERSATILE HE IS, with songs ranging from dedications to beautiful black women to songs about his life and what he's REALLY been through meechie g is destined for greatness.
"If you want to learn about the future research the past. History repeats its self," he says. Keeping himself updated on black history and todays politics the Chicago native is very open minded about his passion and where he plans on going with it. He says his goal is to show the younger generation some positivity, showing them that there are more things to live for than just gang "knowledge" and selling drugs. Just having a conversation with him i feel like ive had a load of knowledge dropped on top of my head. From his life stories to his views on whats going on in the world Meechie G is far from foolish. From the way he watched his mother transform through different phases of drug abuse to his father quickly weaving in and out of his life he speaks the truth about his life as opposed to what his friend went through.
i asked him how he realized his gift and what made him persue it he says he started off as a bootlegger in 2006 when he was inspired by his cousin dollar bill to put his thoughts into a song with the drop of his first album dope boy music [2006] meechie g has created a buzz throughout the internet with over 20,000 friends on his myspace meechie g is doing it all by himself. Mixing, mastering, writing, promoting, and recording himself he is very persistant, with his 100 + “top modelsâ€
