The on-air rivalry between hip hop DJ's Funkmaster Flex and DJ Clue has officially begun with the morning show shift in NYC.
Funkmaster Flex has been a long time and well known radio heavyweight with the New York radio station Hot 97. He has hosted a TV show titled "Riding With Funkmaster Flex" which documented the auto industry for hip hop celebs as well as current hip hop styles used on today's vehicles.
DJ Clue is also no stranger to being in the hip hop spotlight with his first ever idea of placing mixtapes on CDs. The radio show titled "Radio Desert Storm" will feature many of the same latest music as well as custom mixes. "Radio Desert Storm" will be directly competing with his Hot 97 adversary during the 7-12pm shift which contains the hit feature, the "Top Eight at 8:00."
Even though the DJ's are battling for the top NYC hip hop radio spot, they still remain friends off-air. The competition is simply friendly and makes for an interesting radio show.
In a recent interview Funkmaster Flex did with the New York Daily News, he stated "I like Clue. We're friends. But anybody who goes up against me, I have to give him a hard time on the air."
