You can't get protools for free off the comp. there's no way, because each serial key works hand-in-hand with an MBox. And you need an MBox plugged into your comp otherwise Protools won't turn-on. It works like a key.

Protools is your software. It's a program that opens up on your computer and allows you to record, and do different things. Your MBox is the hardware, it's an audio interface that allows you to plug in XLR mic inputs, headphones and monitors. It's all made by a company called Digi-Design. The cheapest you might find the combo is around $300 and thats if it's on sale. Otherwise in most stores you can pick it up for only $400

Yea...Coo Edit is very good for editing. But recording...meh...not so much. Only way you'll get good recording out of CE2.1 is if your computer has some kind of monster upgraded soundcard. I mean it can read record...but there are better programs for recording out there.
But mixing...yea, it does the job better than alot of other programs.

i think its a little more simple and doesn't allow u to do the best editing, i actually like cubase for editing since everything i have edited with it it allows me to practically get into the pixels of the waves and just overall lets me do exactly wat i wanna do, cool edit lets u do plenty but i feel like its capabilities r limited

Thats probably because you don't know how to use it and Viral never showed you how because he doesn't know how to either.

And yes, you can zoon in on every tiny little pixel of any part of a sound bite and edit it on CE2.1 as well. I think there's alot to it that you don't know about. lol

lol do u think i'm incapable of using programs? lol its very simple to use and i've used acid pro which is similar to cool edit, i forgot wat exactly it was about cool edit that made me dislike using it for editing , i know u can zoom in on it but it shows up differently where i couldn't pick apart things as easily or good as i could using cubase, n e ways i dont like it.. and i think it sucks lol, that's all i got for that.. im no professional when it comes to programs im just giving my opinion

you suck. haha

I didn't say you weren't incapable you jew...I was just sayin that you're probably not as familiar with it as I am...thus, you may not be aware of the fact that it can do just as much as Cubase can do.

The reality of it is...is that all audio editing programs offer very similiar capabilities, but they each have their own perks. Same reason Viral's weiener gets wet when it comes to Cubase. Becuz that's what he knows. But why pay $400 for Cubase's software ONLY, when you can get an MBox audio interface along with a current copy of Protools (which shits on Cubase mind you) for almost $100 less!?) And even though you get less with Cubase...that's still what your cousin wanted! haha

Just doesn't make sense.

Like I said...it must be a comfort thing.
But comfortable with the program and it's navigation or not...no matter if you like CE2.1 or not, you can't discredit it for what it can do...which is alot. As long as you have the right Direct X Plug-Ins and everything else with it...it can dance right along with Cubase in capabilities.
