After proclaiming his fill of the music industry, Damon Dash is keeping himself busy in the film world. The Harlem-born mogul announced three cinematic works-in-progress all based on the lives of controversial New York personalities.
The first film is a docudrama based on the life of Larry Davis, a 19-year-old who shot six NYPD officers in 1986 after being fed up with police corruption in his Bronx neighborhood. As a teenager Davis was reportedly hired by dirty cops to act out illegal drug deals, but he later refused resulting in a violent stand-off.
