I am retiring from rapping.
Recording
Writing.
All of that.
why?
i guess u could say i lost my "mojo"
i cant seem to write to any kind of beat.
i just can't.
i would love to keep on going as a hobby.
but as a man i think i gotta drop the mic and walk away.
to me this is childish
its like throwing away your favorite toy.
or growing outta ur favorite shirt or something
i just grew out of it.
i dk if ill come back
hopefully i will.
i want to but right now im done.
i cant seem to find my flow in anything.
but before i go.
i will give any one person on illest that wants to face me in a battle.
i wanna go out with a bang in my eyes.
so if anyone wants to battle me one last time
call me out
i dont care who you are just make sure u dont pull a no show make sure you can do it.

I honestly don't get the "retiring" thing.
Just stop writing if you wanna stop writing. Then, when you feel like writing, write.
I think that if you say "I'm retired" then it's limiting what your going to do, even if it's only in your head.
So yeah, I feel ya. I haven't written shit im a while. I didn't "retire", I just dont feel like writing the majority of the time. Some times I do, and I'll write some shit.

some people have to eliminate something completley in order to get ahead and move on in their lives like my ex brought me nothing but frustration i stopped fucking with her completley not even friends because that. i tried not goin out with her n hittin it when i wanted to hit it but it didnt workout even tho she wasnt my gf anymore she took to much time and energy and attention away from me and my life and im guessing thats a good simile/metaphor about how dead silence feels about rapping/writing. i hope you find something better homie~1

A true MC doesn't retire, even when he says he does. Look at all the cats that said they were gonna put the mic down. There will be a time when you come back to it, even if its years down the road. You don't grow out of hip-hop, you grow with it. If you truly are retiring from hip-hop, you might as well stop listening to it too. Just call it a vacation. Or a legal seperation. Face it, you married into this shit when you wrote your first verse. There's no turning back now, its part of who you are.

I got nothing against you, and like you as a poster and contributor to this site, but this is the dumbest shit I've read in a long, long time.
Stop listening to Hip Hop? What kind of advice is that? You think he should stop listening to rap and hip hop because he no longer wants to write or record hip hop anymore? He should stop listening to a genre of music that he enjoys just because he doesn't want to dedicate his time to it? That's fucking stupid. I listen to Metal but you don't see me going out and blowing my vocal chords out because if I listen to Metal, then my life must revolve around it.
"you married into this shit when you wrote your first verse". Umm...no. Dead Silence, nor anybody, "married" into hip hop or rap just because they've written something or dedicated their time to it. This isn't a gang. No one is going to hunt him down and kill him because he's walking away from something he previously enjoyed. There are no strings attached when you write a verse, and then stop writing. That was such a crock of shit statement, I literally got pissed off in real life when I read it.
"its part of who you are". Same as above. This shit is a hobby for most people. Most people on this site do not get money or any kind of royalties for the raps they have written, and 9/10 will never break away from posting in The Scriptures for 3 posts of feedback. Hip Hop is not who he is, he is his own person, and if he doesn't want to write or record anymore he can do so without looking back. You make yourself, hip hop doesn't make you.
With all that said. Best of luck to you, man.

I was simply stating that he is a fan of hip-hop, therefore, it is a part of who he is. You don't think people's hobbies and likes are a part of who they are? You don't think that most of these kids on here listen to hip-hop, dress like the rappers do, talk like them, and maybe came to this site and started writing because they were inspired by them? No, that's not a part of who they are, is it.
As for the stop listening to hip-hop... Let me rephrase this. Let's take smokers for example. If you quit smoking but still hang out with a bunch of people that smoke, you're going to be more pressured to smoke again. If he quits writing/recording but still listens to the music, he's going to be more influenced and will pick it back up again. That's why I'm saying if he's "retiring", as in not going to do it ever again, it'll be harder to stay away if he keeps listening to it. Its an exaggerated figure of speech, I didn't mean it literally. Or maybe lets use weight lifting as an example, maybe that'll hit home a little better. You pump iron, everyone knows it. Are you going to just all of a sudden "retire" from lifting weights? If you did, would being around people who don't look like out-of-shape slobs make you miss the gym? Yes, it would. It wasn't meant to be taken literally, it was more explaining how he will be back. Clearly, this is more than a hobby to some people if you literally get pissed off reading someone else's comment. I was more referring to how you may give up hobbies, but they never really leave you. I think you need to lighten up a little and not take the internet so seriously. The guy is "retiring" from posting on some barely known hip-hop site. Yes, I used some bad examples. Big deal. I've got nothing against you either, but maybe we'd both be a little better off keeping our opinions to ourselves sometimes. Clear as mud? Good. Have a great day!

I'm not going to go back and forth with you. Yes, you've cleared up your statement and made an equally stupid remark (in my opinion) by saying "don't take the internet so seriously."
I've been on a ton of message boards, non-rap mainly, and see this used all too often.
You're a real person, correct? Just because I'm communicating with you via the internet does not make your statements any less incorrect, in my opinion. If something would make you upset in person that was said by a random stranger, it's going to make you upset if you see/hear it anywhere, internet or not.
To put in example, and this is a horrible example. Lets say you were an animal lover, and you saw somebody mauling an animal in person, would you become upset? Now lets say someone posts a topic about mauling an animal, and then provides pictures of them doing it, would you be upset? Or would you not give a shit anymore just because you saw it on the internet?

Point made. Glad I was able to clear things up. People say stupid shit all the time. So, forget the whole internet thing and just lighten up in general. People are so damn confrontational these days and just can't let shit slide without adding their 2 cents, especially online. But, I respect your opinion and I accept your application to be my editor lol. Just fuckin with ya.

As I respect yours. It's all good. I've always been a little high strung and got a lot of shit going on in my life right now that doesn't need to be going on so it's been magnified, haha.
