Ghost of Hope

I am in love with a ghost,
The phantom of my hopes.
It floats in my open heart,
With its compass and chart,
Seeking to discover the path-
That leads us beyond abstract.

I look into the mirror and reflect-
On the fanciful eyes staring back.
I see the skeleton of my dreams-
That I steadily chase and esteem,
Coinciding with what I believe,
Within the limits of what I perceive.

I’m on the verge of reality’s road,
One way leading into vast unknown,
The other was traveled long ago.
I have no wish to redo what I know.

Here I stand awaiting to span-
Holding destiny’s glorious hand.

I step towards the labyrinth of life-
Beckoning the future to soon arrive.

A nice observation on moving forward in life.

I could see this being read aloud on some Def jam Poetry shit, for sure. Overall, the message was pretty simple but packaged nicely. It was enjoyable to read.

This had alot of the spoken word vibe for me. I like how it came across, simple yet complex with the emotional side of it. Nice drop man.

Thanks for the feed Murk. I'm feelin what ur sayin about the spoken word vibe its got. This one isn't something I'm gonna lace with a beat, unless maybe I do some kinda spoken word thing to intro into the track or somethin. What I'm probably gonna do though is give these lyrics to my dad to do something with. He writes music with the piano and sometimes guitar and mentioned that the content and structure of this piece would work well for his style of music.
