I think new users should have to drop a piece in New Users before they can see ANY of the boards that way they cant just come here and bite. They gotta contribute first.

I think battle votings a little sketchy, everyone reads it differently, the first come first served works for the most part. I dunno how to fix it, jus a suggestion, but maybe have votes moved up past 5. Wont happen though cause it;s hard enough to get people to vote as it is.

Less talk and more production. If I can get my computer back up n runnin I might be able to make a flash script to make the site less bland. Like if you click text Battle Grounds an actual battle ground screen will pop up before you can see the forum while it loads. Thats gonna take a lot of work though, haha.

For yall with Myspace, I can try to make a banner with all the known people on here. Have IllestLyrics.com at the top, in some tight font, and then have all the faces shadowed in. You can it post on here on the frontpage, other websites, myspaces, anything, maybe have a catchy little slogan like "Home Of The Kings" at the bottom so more people can come here and see whats up when they click the banner.

When people come to the Homepage we gotta attract em in. We gotta make them come to this site and be like"Damn, look at this shit, I wonder what else this site has to offer". Might be a good place to have the banner too. At the top or in the middle of the page. I havent been to a coding class since I graduated so if I can remember how to do all this shit Ill make it, haha.

Best thing we can do is jus get more people to come here and liven this place up. That banner we can post on other rap websites and sway people to come here. If it's affordable we can all pitch in through PayPal or somethin, send a page in with the top dogs names and our banner to XXL Magazine, The Source, Vibe, Scratch, Spin, any of those magazines and have them plug us through their Advertisements page, there's always websites an shit in there, and itd be easy to catch peoples eyes with a flashy banner, they vist the site, an all of sudden we got tons of people swarming to this place.

All those magazines websites or email addresses, jus have someone e-mail em, get a price if there is one, and send them the page or ad we want published. A lot people read those mags, we might be able to get like...real motherfuckers with deals and people with unsigned hype to come here, they post the banner on their page, and mother fucker we're golden. I'm really gonna try to make that banner cause that shit has endless possibilites. Even postin that shit on an underground rappers Myspace, or a mainstream rappers Myspace will immediatley attract attention from all their friends and possibly even them (not so much the mainstream cause they got people tha run their sites, haha).

Lack of help is the whole reason, Illest isn't one of the most magnificent hip hop sites on the net.

Everyone thinks, they can pin point the exact reason the site hasn't skyrocketed, but it's numerous things.

For example, I had an interview with underground rapper copywrite, that would have garnered attention, but I got to busy and said fuck it.

I've wrote over 1000 articles for the front page. Some of them are messy, because I've wrote 1000 articles for the front page.

People like Domino, make usernames, which are funny for a select few. But when the massive amount of visitors who come to this site see it. They obviously think we're quite amateur when half of our titles have the word "fuck" in them, and the forum has started getting banned from google for it. (I'm not going to complain, it's your forum).

I've asked so many times, you can look in the history, for people to help me do a top level design, but I'm not going to go out of my way to do that. (I've never dedicated more than a week on Illest to anything besides coding).

I get about 10 e-mails a week, web design inquiries for this site alone. So, it's not like you can single out, the design as the reason the site hasn't blown up. The lack thereof a flash logo or the fact the shop doesn't have 20 more options.

We have done site vs site, are people failed miserably at being mature as well as the opposing team. It's basically impossible, the fragile egos of our superstars, you think they want to get beat by another site? God knows, we're not good, look at our battle grounds.

The sites been up for 2 years and besides some great moderation by a few mods. Mainly, in the battle grounds, nobody has taken action yet. So, if you're really interested. That's great. A lot of people have claimed to be, but I won't believe it until I see it.

The one thing, all very successful hip hop websites have in common, is a strong community. Our community is strong when it comes to their own ambitions.

When we can't even manage to keep vets like 16 micz active. Obviously, we have something fundamentally wrong.

And who cares if they can just come here and bite? I don't understand. Maybe, I am the only one on the internet, who doesn't care if my textstyles are bitten. It's my original work, that's all that matters. Anyone can steal.

You also have to take into consideration, the fact that a few broken features on the site, have held us back before. I never put Illest through any sort of beta stages, because it's a solo act. I.E, I'm responsible for every aspect of the site functioning. Not to get into the technicalities to much, but that basically has put us back a lot of times. Even a semi-broken, registration system for the last 6 months.

IllestLyrics makes a decent amount in advertisement revenue that all goes back into advertising. Through two systems known as adwords and adsense. The reason, we haven't fully capitalized on this cycle is beyond me.

I definitely don't know it all. Illest is still one of the top hip hop sites for traffic on the internet. We get multiple business proposals offers everyday. (Hypothetically, I would set up the admins, to receive that mail).

Technically, and you can ask multiple people. I had a much more different, bigger, and lucrative direction for this site before I was humbled.

I enjoy other projects as well. I'm not a big fan of sitting on a hip hop site all day. Are you? Dedication and motivation are two completely different things. And an even harder thing is to be dedicated to be motivated. When you're constantly meeting drawbacks and lack of encouragement.

We have done battle voting so many various ways. Me, Jesus, and Ekoms have particularly spent a lot of time on the concept. The lack of support from the emcees who contributed to making it perfect. Screwed that idea. We can try again. I personally have no energy for it.

I'm not trying to be a pessimist either. I will let you know though. October, November, December, and now January are the lowest post count months since October 2006. The latter (January) being the highest count in all of them months with 5 to spare. We might be getting back on track a bit.

I can go on and on.
