no, it should be someone's choice whether to risk their lives or not

so basically, you're driving and you cause an accident and you kill the guy because he wasnt wearing a seatbelt. your family has to pay like a hundred thousand. OR you can blame him for not wearing a seatbelt and go back home and chill.

thats a good point sub, but what's wrong with wearing a seatbelt? there not uncomfortable or nothing, they should enforce it better though on public transport.

There Shouldn't Be a Law, Waste Of Police Time Stopping Everyone (Well... Being Told To Under Regulations) Since a Lot Of People Would Still Do So as it Would Be a VERY Minor Offense. They're Paid To Solve REAL Cases, And Maybe Who Knows..... Something More Effective Like The Prevention Of Road incidents Happening in The 1st Place? (Drunk Drivers Etc). Of Course, Some Are Purely Accidental And Unpredictable Hence Why it's a Good idea To Wear a Seatbelt. But if The Road Police Are Busy Busting These Guys All Day, Who'd Stop The Drunk Driver Speeding Right into a Packed Bus Just a Few Hundred Feet Away? Constantly Looking at Drivers And Passengers To See if They Have a Seatbelt On Requires Undivided Attention And it's Really Not a Big Priority.

it should be a personal choice.
if someone dies because of it its their fault not the one who causes it.
and who says that all ppl die from not wearing seatbelts

It should be a personal choice after you reach the age of 18 and are responsible for yourself, and any harm you cause to someone else.

more like they DO..and there gettin real anal about it...specially in the Chi they got commercials playing all the time click it or ticket bullshit...its fuckin lame as hell...y should they feel the need to make us protect ourselves...it couldnt be more obvious that most people r jst gonna slide da belt over n make it look like dere wearin a belt if dey see a cop roll by....but in the big picture..if u dont wear one..well thats u risking possible flight out the car or somethin else in an accident...or...even dieing from wearing it.....i wear one.....n from wat ive experienced...if i didnt i kno i woulda ended up fucked up for it....but it should be on the driver....and no law should make u do somethin that really is only for u...and a possible person u get into an accident with....i can see why they would want everyone to do it...but....most of the people i know...dont wear their seat belts....so in the end its pointless...cuz a ticket isnt going to make someone wear something they dont want to

Lol i dunno about everyone else, when i get into my car, or any other car, one of the first things i do is put a seat belt on. I'd rather they were left with a very bad whip lash from their seat belt in a car accident rather than them flying outta my car and possibly dying.

We have seatbelt laws. Maybe some parts are the country are less strict.
I'm not sure. It's kinda a personal choice, but on the other hand, I don't want some dude getting in a wreck down the road, and then he's deceased corpse launches at me cause he didn't wear his seatbelt. So I'm dont know.
But they should have seatbelts on school buses. I think that shit is ridiculous. Adults get tickets for not wearing seatbelts like were five years old, but then ironically enough, 5 year olds don't have seatbelts on school buses.

on an unrelated note, its weird to me that THIS is popular topic out of the couple Debate topics. You'd think a seatbelt law debate thread wouldn't bring the crowds.

of course there should be seatbelt laws. we have seatbelt laws over here. ive been stopped and fined £30 for not wearing one. thats the way it should be. i always wear a seatbelt when im driving my car now coz ive got a friend that thought he was too cool to wear a seatbelt and ended up through the windscreen and lucky to survive. although sometimes if im getting a lift off someone and im in the back i dont wear a seatbelt. which is even worse because if you crash you could go flying forward and kill the person in front who is wearing a seatbelt

You even get to loose points on your license. . Above all, I think seatbelts are necessary, otherwise they won't have been created in the first place. As some say, prevention is better than cure. Why not wear your seatbelts than get involved in an accident you could have avoided.
MAybe if there is a rule that say that if you have an accident (fatal) and you were not wearin your seatbelt then, you should get no reclaims from the insurance company for your car
