Here’s some good news for Hip-Hop. Legendary group De La Soul and their classic debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, is one of 25 records selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

The album has been chosen along side a variety of other historical recordings, including a 1908 of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

Interestingly, Steely Dan’s critically acclaimed album Aja was also included on this year’s list

De La Soul sampled the song “Peg” from Aja and used it on the single “Eye Know” on their 3 Feet High and Rising album, which was produced by DJ Prince Paul.

Other notable songs included include Al Green’s “Lets Stay Together” and Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man.”
