“Simmons was booked on two counts of endangerment, three counts of criminal speeding, racing on a highway, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
According to the DPS, on the night of Jan. 21 a speed camera caught Simmons, at the wheel of a 1966 Chevy Nova II, driving northbound on the freeway at 100 mph. A minute later, the camera at Cactus Road recorded Simmons’ speed as 114 mph. Less than three minutes later, a third camera snapped Simmons traveling 101 mph.
The posted speed limit is 65 mph, but the cameras are triggered at 76 mph.”
