Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy was released from prison today (March 7th), after spending 3 1/2 years behind bars for a gun possession charge.

Prodigy was from the Mid-State Correctional facility in New Jersey earlier this morning, after serving the three years in jail for getting caught with a loaded .22 handgun in October of 2006, while driving in a bulletproof SUV with renowned producer The Alchemist.

In addition to reuniting with Mobb Deep member Havoc, Prodigy will get right to work on is his upcoming auto-biography, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, which is due in stores on April 19th.

My Infamous Life centers around Prodigy’s upbringing, the rapper’s career with Mobb Deep, his various altercations throughout his colorful career and his time behind bars.

Ironically, as Prodigy comes out, another Queens representative is slated to go in for the same offense.

Ja Rule is expected to be sentenced to two years on Wednesday (March 9th), for a gun possession charge stemming from an incident in July of 2007, in which police found a loaded handgun in the side door panel of his Maybach.
