the way I critique it is whether or not it sounds like something that would actually be played on the radio or on jay z's album. Something about the sounds and/or mixing just doesn't make it seem professional

The harmonies are what? Strings with a synth melody over it? To me it just comes off sounding a bit like a cheap piano

What sounds do you typically use? I've always been told that VST's are the best but producing really isn't my forte. I end up using Komplete, Trilogy, Sonic Synth, Hypersonic ...
