more on economy plan
Dear MoveOn member,
Moments ago, President-elect Obama called on Congress to pass his new economic recovery plan. It's an ambitious program to save or create 3 million jobs while investing in health care, clean energy, and green jobs.1
Yet the right wing is prepared to fight against Obama with everything they've got. They don't want to pay for key provisions like health care for laid-off workers. They just want more tax cuts for the rich.2
Your representative, Judy Biggert, is key to Obama's success—and she is gauging public opinion now. There's just one problem: No one has volunteered to organize a gathering at Rep. Biggert's local office on Wednesday, January 14th, to show support for Obama's plan. Can you help out?

Organizing an event is really easy. All you need to do is pick a spot near your representative's office. We'll provide a guide that'll tell you everything you need to know. And we'll invite a bunch of other MoveOn members in your area to help make sure your event is a success.
We know there are a lot of folks in Chicago who want to help support Obama's first big initiative. But unless one person can step forward today, there will be no local event—and Judy Biggert may decide to vote against Obama's economic recovery plan.
Obama's election depended on millions of real people like us getting involved to take our country back, and now he needs our help to fix one of the biggest crises facing our nation.
The stakes are incredibly high: If he doesn't win big on this first fight, he won't have the political momentum to keep going on health care, clean energy, and ending the war in Iraq.
In his speech just now, Obama said:
"I don't believe it's too late to change course, but it will be if we don't take dramatic action as soon as possible. If nothing is done, this recession could linger for years."3
Can you get Obama's back, so he can get an early win on a critical issue? Organize a petition delivery at Rep. Biggert's local office on January 14th to show support for Obama's economic recovery plan. Click here to get started:

hah yea really. i find it ironic that all the most likable presidents always end up getting assasinated. JFK, Lincoln, e.g. i guess america is a bad place if they wont let good people try to do the right thing like spike lee. i voted for obama because i dont want another bush in office....i just think hes the right candidate for the job and i believe he will do a good job.

they arent all bad. one. two. some were very very bad but have actually turned that around and now working for peace. obamas involvement in all those people is genuine and non-threatening to my country and anybody elses...or so i believe. lol no but yea hes a solid guy and anybody that thinks otherwise is probably honestly just racist or ignorant and usually those go hand in hand.

I could appreciate (though i completely disagree with) your response up until this point.K.O. wrote:lol no but yea hes a solid guy and anybody that thinks otherwise is probably honestly just racist or ignorant and usually those go hand in hand.
Why in God's name, is it racist if you do not "like" Obama? Was everyone who voted against Mccain, because they didnt think he was a "solid guy", racist against whites?
How about, I do NOT think he is a "solid" guy. It has nothing to do with his race, and everything to do with his actions, and political opinions throughout his whole life. I couldn't possibly care less what race he is. He is a socialist, and therefore in my opion not a "solid guy."
And that has nothing to do with race. And nothing to do with ignorance. It's a differing opinion. And that's what America is about.

i disagree. america is probably the land of the ignorant man. thats why most foreign countries dont like americans. IGNORANCE. they "Racially profile us when we step on their borders" "we're all criminals" "we all like bush" we dont all need to support our president, just our country. and yes our government sucks and were in more debt that JD, Mike Tyson, and MR. T were combined (by alot alot alot alot more). lol but were going to rise up out of this because whether you like obama or not or agree with his ideals he has a good supporting cast on his team and thats what we need. experienced people around a young free-thinking mind. together they will work to make this country better, to get more jobs, to create less pollution and cut energy costs. he wants to go green, so do i. i like that color. ha
