A poem i wrote for a poetry contest online, where the criteria was desrcibed as "uplifting, inspiring, or motivating". Took first place, although one of the judges bitched cuz she said it read too much like a song. Whatever...

Dreamed a thousand paths, woke and walked my old one, this world we living in, is a very cold one.
Frostbite, just might, make me lose sight, one night, one mic, one track to ignite.
You right, too right, i write, too deep, dream deep, be deep, if on edge just leap.
The key to change, is to let go of fear, im here, its ok to cry, i can feel your tears.
17 years of poverty while police bother me, no role model, i lived most my life father free.
But that didnt stop me, that shouldnt stop you, i wanna count all day, just like the clock do.
But thats just a dream, but why cant that be, im a dreamer, i close my eyes in order to see.
I swear, i put my heart into each line, stars lie, hidden in my soul, so i reach high.

Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul, Dream deep, cuz every dream precedes the goal.
Before I go, imma leave my mark, remember tommorrow comes after the dark.
Were all in the gutter, but im looking at the stars, putting my heart, into every single bar.
Dream like youll live forever, live as youll die today, trust me, everything will be ok.

While i breathe i hope, and hope is what i need, cuz faith is faint on the life i lead.
When life i leave, i hope my seeds, succed, pursue and proceed all thier dreams.
My music is what feelings sound like, went industry for a minute but now im like, now like.
Back to that real music, that touches the soul, you aint gotta prove nothing, thats what i was told.
And that is what i live by, we all live to die, you can try and fail, but never fail to try.
Reach high, pass the clouds,yup, reach past the sky, past the stars and just close your eyes.
Darkness might surround me, but will never swallow me, i used to sin alot, now all my tracks are apologies

Dont cry that its over, smile because it happened, im a poet, that just happens to be rapping.
Dreams are illustartions, from the book your souls writing, i would love the cake, success is like the iceing.
Life is never easy for those who dream, but those who dream are strong it seems.
I mean, you gotta be strong to pursue you goals, they want you to stick to a similiar role.
We all dream alot, some are lucky some are not, but you got to want it, you gotta take a shot.
But if you think it, want it, dream it, then its real, why, because you are what you feel.
Only as deep as you look can you see, only as much as you dream can you be.
Only as far as i seek can i go, and only as high as i reach can i grow.
