Mario Etheridge, the 28-year-old bouncer involved in the club shootout which killed D12 rapper Proof, was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and shooting a gun indoors – but was not charged with Proof’s death.Etheridge allegedly shot and killed rapper Proof, born DeShaun Holton, in a Detroit nightclub on April 11 when a dispute turned into gunfire.Proof was arguing with Keith Bender, the 35-year-old cousin of Etheridge, when shots were fired killing both men.Etheridge was not on trial for homicide because Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy opted not to pursue murder charges against the bouncer, saying he acted in self-defense“There was too much testosterone in the club, and [Etheridge] added another cupful,” assistant county prosecutor Elizabeth Walker told the Detroit News following the verdict.“You’re not going to make a situation better by bringing a gun into it.”Etheridge remains free on bond until his sentencing. He faces up to five years in prison.
