Put the pen down and read a book for an hour....suggestions

Alright, I rarely see any ladies and gents who do actually read. My attempts at trying to spark a decent conversation about politics, countries, money, school etc is an all out failure. They look at me like I'm a dumb ass. Then start talking about beer, titties, getting their nails done, failing grades, that guy one from the club etc.. and how they had gotten arrested yesterday.

I myself never liked reading at all. That was until I met a friend of mine who was way older than I was. There was nothing he didn't know about and I actually even looked up on the world wide web and I couldn't believe he was right on everything we have ever discussed usually business, investments and politics. I asked him how he knew all this and he pointed at this damn box filled with books in his foot locker and he reads anything he can get his hands on. I wanted that kind of memory and his use of his incredible vocabulary is hilarious especially when he was talking shit.

Reading enriches the brain increases vocabulary, fluency, and back ground.

I prefer books that teach you something and history such as military battles, those for dummy's books, survival books, investing books...

Here are my suggestions for you ladies and gents to pick up and read.
The first two are military books that I read during my journeys overseas fighting for oil . They're actually pretty damn good and they suck you into the story. Minus the fact they still don't realize they were sent to fight for oil , they're good books though.

1) Shoulder to Shoulder with the Marines Who Took Fallujah.

2) From Gangster to Marine.

3)The 48 Laws Of Power. READ THIS FIRST THEN 4 AFTER.

4)The 50th Law. (I use to think 50 was a dumb ass, but he's actually a pretty smart guy. His music still sucks though.)

5) War is a Racket.

6) Feminist say the Darnest Things. (This guy is such master at bashing those bitches.)

7) The Art of War.

8.) Robert Kiyosaki All his books "Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cash Flow Quadrant etc". (learn from that things that interest you and jot down notes. Then research those notes on your own. I personally never go by what someone else says. I always research myself and make the my own decisions).

I have more, but there's way to much to list here. These are my favorite ones to read so far and I re read some of them.

Anyone have any suggestions type them down. I'm running out of books to read.

Nice to see the Art of War listed among your books, that's a must read for any emcee I'd say.

I just started reading a book called Night by Elie Wiesel I think everyone should read. It was the first book published by someone who had lived through the Naxi concentration camps during WWII. I'm reading it keeping in mind that when most people first read this, they had no idea how bad things had really been.

One of my favorite lit-hop books is Can't Stop Won't Stop by Jeff Chang. It's a history of hip-hop and its effect on society written by someone who's not so much a scholar as he is a hip-hop head. He writes real true and lucid.

Angry Black White Boy is another must read for hip-hop heads. It a fiction, but one helluva funny/insightful story. The story of a white guy who's filled with rage over white peoples racism to black people and organizes a national day of apology that results in riots breaking out all over the place and all this crazy shit happening. It's a good story, and a good reflection on race relations in the US today.

Bomb the Suburbs and No More Prisons are two collections of irreverent essays and musings by William Upski Wimsatt that rocks. Also another gem among the hip-hop literature out there.

r dad p dad is good you should read the greatest salesman in the world as well here are a few books you should read just to get into reading if its not really your thing

"streetlethal", "gorgon child","firedance", by steven barnes a black author written in the 80's about today fairly decent

every "harry potter"- jk rowling yeah i know but they were excellently written perfect story telling

oh yeah a must read is "the secret" read that shit

I'm currently reading "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene. It's a great book that's kind of like the modern day Art of War.

I have the Sun Tzu one. All the other ones suck ass? Those books are gold. Clock work orange is gay. Then again your choice. Cadence I just downloaded Night into my kindle. I'm finishing up the 50th LAW this week.

Yezzir is Niccolo Machiavelli's ARt of War any different from Sun Tzu's book? Was it made before Sun Tzu's art of war or after?

Uhhhh those books are relative gimmiks.... ie the power and salesman books... some other good books were mentioned but it depends if u like reading novels or non fiction books... i myself read for enjoyment. I have read some James Clavels Books.... Chuck Palinuk has a crazy Mind.... and books like the Lord Of The Rings Were amazing from an imaginary point of view. As of right now im reading a science fiction book called the Windup Girl....Another off the wall book
