Author: Newly Discovered FBI Report Points To Group Of White Supremacists Paying Ray To Assassinate Dr. Martin Luther King

Linda Young - AHN Editor

Memphis, TN (AHN) - On the eve of the 41st anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a previously ignored FBI report has come to light stating that a group of white supremacists had paid James Earl Ray Jr. to kill King.

The declassified FBI files about King are detailed for the first time in "Legacy of Secrecy," written by Lamar Waldron, with Thom Hartmann, according to a release from Counterpoint Press.

There is no evidence that the recently uncovered 1968 report was given to the 1979 Congressional investigation headed by Rep. Louis Stokes--the House Select Committee on Assassinations--which had concluded that Ray acted for money, according to the statement released by a publicist for Lamar Waldron, who had reportedly obtained the files.

Stokes's committee had actually investigated white supremacist Joseph Milteer in connection with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, but not in connection with the assassination of King. However, the newly discovered 1968 FBI files reportedly support new evidence showing Milteer was one of four Georgia white supremacists who funded King's assassination.

This report, and the other new evidence, was reportedly not available when the King family met with Ray, before his death, and began asking that he be tried to determine the truth because they did not believe he had acted alone. Ray made reference to a mysterious man he knew only as "Raoul."

Furthermore, Milteer was also reportedly in Atlanta, GA when Ray made a 450-mile detour there after killing King to ditch his getaway car and call one of Milteer's associates before fleeing to Canada and on to England, and elsewhere, before finally being apprehended.
