Envus Management, Philadelphia emcee Gillie Da Kid's camp, confirm in a recent statement that the soloist was February 6 arrested in his hometown and charged with conspiracy and possessing narcotics with intent to deliver.

"The charges are unwarranted and once Gillie has his day in court, we are confident that the evidence against him will prove to be false. The Philadelphia Police Department is clearly using Gillie's status as a hip hop artist and entertainer to draw media attention to him. This was clearly a case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Philadelphia police reportedly found 89 pounds of marijuana in houses on Passmore street, in Northeast Philadelphia, after being tipped off. According to Sgt. Robert Friel of Narcotics Field Unit 2, Gillie and his associates "were supplying numerous drug dealers all over the city"

Gillie Da Kid emerged in the late nineties as a member of the Philly collective Major Figgas. He then joined Cash Money Records, only to this summer have a public falling out with label head Brian "Baby" Williams, and the company's president and flagship act Lil Wayne, over publishing rights and ghostwriting credit.

Gillie recently inked a deal with Babygrande Records to March 13 release "Best of Gillie Da Kid Mixtapes".
